Fundamental Of Fishing Creek Childcare

By Susan Butler

Childcare is also known by several other names including preschool, daycare, child minding, or child care. Child care refers to the process of providing care and supervision of children, normally from the age of one and a half months to 13 years. This process can be done by babysitters, daycare centers, or other kinds of care providers. In Fishing Creek childcare has become a profession that employs many people and allows parents to take care of other kinds of businesses.

As much as the term child minding may sound shallow, it covers a variety of contexts, activities, institutions, social conventions, and cultural conventions. Today, types of facilities that offer care to children are many and they go by different names. Some of the examples are licensed home day care/ family child care, in-home care, informal care, and center-based care. It is usually the responsibility of legal guardians or parents to care for children in most societies.

In western societies, if both parents are employed, they usually have two options of providing care for their children. The two options involve taking the child to center-based care or employing a nanny to provide home-based care. In other settings, the extended family may take care of children where possible. If the extended family, parents, or legal guardians cannot provide the needed care, children are usually taken to foster homes or orphanages.

The other name used to refer to family child care is licensed home day care. In this form of care, the place of care is usually the home of the caregiver. Usually, small numbers of children are involved and security is as good as in commercial centers. The main advantages associated with family child care are cultural compatibility, lower costs, ease of accessibility, and flexibility in hours.

The kind of care provided by home-based care providers is very individualized. Therefore, these providers offer the best option to meet the needs of working parents. This option of child care is the cheapest and most affordable to many. In comparison to commercial care centers, these facilities offer more child-provider interaction because the number of children is normally low.

Another form of childcare is the in-home care. This type of care is usually provided by family members, friends, au pairs, or nannies. The caring and supervision happens in the home of the child or that of the provider of care. This reduces exposure to children from outside and illnesses. The child interacts heavily with the caregiver, leading to the development of a strong bond between the two.

In-home care is not regulated by the government, which implies that the caregiver does not have to be licensed. Also, there are no background checks run on the caregiver to ascertain their suitability for the job. As such, it is upon the parent of the child to select the right caregiver. The cost per child of this form of care is the highest.

There nanny and au pair services from which one can get certified caregivers. Those nannies are usually trained in childcare. Therefore, they know how to ensure the well-being of children by offering safe and stimulating environments. In most cases, nannies also help homeowners with other activities such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, and doing laundry.
