When giving your child his medicine, try mixing it up with something sweet-tasting. Sugar or fruit juice mixed with the medicine will do the trick. If you need to apply eye drops, ask your child to close their eyes and apply the drop on the eyelid. Have him then open his eyes, and the drops will slide in.

Even though your child says "I want" often, it is in his best interest for you to not give in to everyone. It is important that you only give your child things on your terms. You do not want your child to think that he or she can get whatever they want and control you with fits.

When giving your child medicine, a great way, to get them to take it, is by mixing it with something that is sweet. Orange juice is a great suggestion, but if that doesn't work, you could just add a little bit of sugar to the medicine. Eye drops can applied to the eyelid of the closed eye of your child. Have him then open his eyes, and the drops will slide in.

Keep the same nightly routine when getting your child ready for bed. By following these, your child, will be prepared for the sleeping time that is ahead. When he changes into his pajamas, brushes his teeth and listens to a story, he knows that sleeping will be next. You will encounter less difficulty if the child already anticipates the next step in the process.
